Taiwan Trip IV "Yeh Liu Geopark"

The next day after getting ready to go out, I was wondering where we want to go, I have no idea where is our next destination is. At 09:30 AM the uncle’s driver come to fetched us, and in that day my small uncle took one day leave for accompany us. Before went to there we had breakfast at one of the fish market, but I didn’t took any photos of the dishes we ate on there. Hahaha.. After finished fed our stomach, we continue to our destination, when in the car I just over heard their conversation about where we want to go. Then I heard they said Yeh Liu, in my mind I was thought where it is? And what kind of park it is? But I think the best way to know what exactly it’s look like was to look its in real.

Yeh Liu Geopark one of the famous tourism attractions object at Wan Li District, Taiwan. From Taoyuan to Yeh Liu Geopark it’s take about 1 hour. Yeh Liu Geopark was located at Wan Li District , New Taipei (Xin Bei). Yeh Liu Geopark is a cape known by geologist as the Yeh Liu Promontory, forms part of the Daliao Miocene Formation. It Stretches approximately 1,700 Meters into the ocean and was formed as geological forces pushed the Datun Mountain out of the sea. The Widest area in between is shorter than 300 m.

I have done some search in google then I was found a website www.ylgeopark.org.tw ,on that site stated the history of they named that place as Yeh Liu

1.       A term translated from the Pin Pu Language

2.      An abbreviation of the Spanish words “Punto Diablos (which means “Devil’s Cape)

3.      In early days, local residents earned their living at sea and they relied on rice suppliers from inner land to offer rice to them. During transportation, some local people would use the sharp bamboo tube to stick sack and leave a hole on it, so that the rice may slip out and could be picked up by them. As a result, rice traders often mentioned “the rice was stolen by the savages” (where as “steal” and “savage” are pronounced similar to Yeh (savage) and liu (Steal) in Taiwanese)

Yehliu Geopark can be divided into three areas. The first area contains mushroom rock and ginger rock. You may learn the development process of mushroom rock as well as witness the appearance of ginger rock, cleavage, pothole and melting erosion panel. On top of that, the famous candle shaped rock and the ice cream rock are presented in this area too.

The second area is similar to the first area, where the mushroom rock and the ginger rock are the main focuses, only they are fewer in numbers. You may see the Queen’s Head, Dragon’s Head Rock, and etc. Since the area is near the coast, rocks that develop into four different kinds of formations can be seen in this area: elephant rock, fairy’s shoe, earth rock and peanut rock. The aforementioned are parts of the layers featuring special shapes as a result of being corroded by sea water.

The third area is the wave-cut platform located on the other side of Yehliu. This area is much narrower than the second area; one side of the platform is closely adjacent to steep cliffs while down below the other side is a scene of torrent waves. Several rocks of grotesque shapes and sizes that are incarnated as a result of sea erosion can be seen in this area, including the 24-filial piety hill, pearl rock and Marine Bird Rock. The third area also includes the major ecology reserve of Yehliu Geopark in addition to the said rock landscapes.

Back to the topic, as we reached there in the noon, my small uncle bought for 7 tickets including him for entrance the Yeh Liu Geo Park, each cost 80 NT. What surprised me was the uncle’s driver no need to paid for the ticket, why? Because he was a disabled people, so how he could drove the car? You guys must be very curious? Right ? It’s only minor disability, one of his index finger was been amputated during one of the operation. When he want to entrance the park for free he just need to showed his shortage index finger. Taiwan government really do care to their citizen, I hope someday in Indonesia will have the same regulation as Taiwan.

As we entered the Yeh Liu Geo Park, you will seen a lot of imitation of the real rocks in the Yeh Liu Geo Park such us Queen Head, Etc. At the Yeh Liu Geo Park you will see a red line cross in the side of the sea which to prevent the visitor to over walk from the place, I think it also do for our safety where there a lot cliff on there. An each statue of the rock they put some small rocks as a barrier to avoid people hold the real statue which will caused the damage to its. There also a Guard that to look after people around there who has step out of the red line or hold the rock. If you hold the rock the guard will blow his whistle..pitt.pitt..hahaha..so be careful, he just done his part of job.

There is a lot of sand stones, all of it was the result of weathering of stones caused by the sea water. Earth movement giving rise to a scenery consisting of sea trenches/holes. There so much unique stones such as Ice Cream Rock, Candle, Elephant Rock, The Fairy’s Shoe, Earth Rock, Peanut Rock, Honey Comb, the famous one Queen Head, and so on. I didn’t take all the photos of them, because my uncle getting tired walking around so I just took few of them.

While walking to the right side head to the stairs I noticed a statue of Lian Tian Zhen who was a local fisherman who on 18 March 1964 jumped to the sea to save student Chang Guo Quan who fell to the sea accidently, unfortunately both of them were drowned. To tribute and memorial to Zhen heroic act is this statue.

From the left side I saw a stairs connect to the small pavilion in the top of the hill, I was curious how the view from there, then the uncle’s driver offered me again to take the stairs to the top of there to see the view. Why not? Hehehe…although it was cloudy day but after reached that small pavilion I still felt that I’m sweaty, maybe I didn’t got usual with exercise. This is a self reminding to myself that I’m rarely do exercise and when I back to the Indonesia I should start exercising .hahaha..

After spent about two hours at there, we go back to the car park to heading to house due to the rainy was about to come. I love how they arranged the entrance and exit way to the visitor so that it will become nice, tidy and decent. I hope all the nature tourism object will be looks like that. Here some photos from Yeh Liu Geopark

Taiwan Trip Part III “North and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area”

Yeay..I’m getting excited to write more about every places I had visited on my Taiwan Trip. Today I’m going to continue telling you where the next destination I was visited after left Golden Waterfall ( As I already talked in my previous post ). During way back to the home, the uncle who was the driver asked to us, do we want to stop at the side of the sea view which was located at North and Yilan Coast National Area, I didn’t dare to agreed due I’m afraid my mom and my uncle will be very tired to keep walking for a long day, surprised my uncle agreed then we stopped our car in the side of the street. There was some people who stopped at there too, I thought they also want to take some photos at there too. I saw there was a couple in there to preparing taking pre wedding photos, that was meant there must be very good view at there, that’s why they come to there.
After the uncle’s driver parked the car, I was very excited to strolling around to look what was on there, and then what I saw…wow..yeah,,a blue sea with an incredible shape of rocks around there. There’s a cliff beside the sea, and you can try go down to the sea through that rocks. There is so much unique shape of the rocks, at there you could be amazed by the power of nature, it’s really refreshing my mind of these days of stress. By the way, i met a new friend at there, a very interesting and value friend, he is a lovely dog J, that dog really made my day, his owner said his name was yahoo, it’s quiet funny. His name same with one of the famous search engine..hahaha..What Surprised me  was that dog didn’t afraid of getting closer with stranger especially with me. That dog me taught me the value lesson on that day, the lesson of being sincerely with every person you meet in your life.
The uncle driver offered me to go down to the side of the sea, of course, I won’t refuse that chance, while my mom and uncle still in the upside of the street. After I reached the side of the sea it’s really worth it to watch the view from the side of the sea, I was really happy, for looking everything around there. After that I climbed back to the top and I sit down on in the side of the cliff with “yahoo” (that dog), watched everything around us, and feel fresh and free. Here some photos I took at there :
P.S. : I’m still new as a blogger and also new blog in English, I hope you guys pardon all my grammar’s mistakes, I need a lot courage to blog in English due I’m not good at its, but now I’m still trying to improve its because some day I have a dream that I would blog every places in my country which I meant Indonesia to all over people in the world. Taiwan Trip Part II “Jiu Fen Golden Waterfall”

Taiwan Trip Part II “Jiu Fen Golden Waterfall”

Here another waterfall I had visited on Taiwan, these one quiet different with the previous one ( which I meant Shi Fen Waterfall I talked in my previous post ). Golden waterfall is located near the Gold Ecological Park in Jun Gua Shi  (Mining Town) or Tourish Village Jiu Fen. This  Waterfall not too big and not exactly looks like a Waterfall as usual, but what make its special was the water of its called Yin-Yang Sea. The water that forms this unusual fall has a yellow hue from the copper and iron deposits it picks up as it passes through Jin Gua Shi's old mines. You'll find the waterfall down from the Gold Ecological Park as you head towards the sea (which is also a yellowish colour from the river water).

                To reach there you could take Keelung Bus routes no 788, 825, 827, 856, 1062 go to Jiu Fen, the destination in sequence from Ruifang Railway Station – Jiu Fen- Jin Gua Shi - Golden Waterfalls – Shuinandong. Golden Waterfall is 2.5 Km away from Jin Gua Shi. Coming from Jiu Fen, only buses that go beyond Jin Gua Shi will pass Golden Waterfalls. Some Keelung bus routes do not have a designated stop at Golden Waterfalls. You need to request the bus driver to allow you to get off at Golden Waterfall. That’s all the information I got from Trip Advisor to reach there by bus, because last time during my visit I was using private car from Shi Fen to there and it’s take time about 40 minutes.

                Besides the waterfall I was spotted a giant mountain, its look like it’s has four limps. I love all the scenery around there, each spot has it’s special view, that time when I visited there the weather really calm and friendly, not hot either not rainy. It’s was in the mountain so the air is so fresh and even more complete with those incredible view. I visited there in the same day with Shi Fen Waterfall, in one day visiting two different Waterfall really made my day, as I really love everything about nature. Here I took some photos on there as below

Taiwan Trip Part I “ Shi Fen Waterfall”

Hi All, today I’m going share will all of you my trip to Taiwan on March 2016, it’s a little bit late to share with you guys due to I was lack disciplining in writing, and now onward I was encourage myself to keep write even tough I have no mood to do it. That’s the best way to practice my English and also keep maintain my hobby. Okay , back to the topic, I was visited Taiwan in order to attended the wedding ceremony of my cousin. So as the phrase said “one stone kill two birds”, it’s meant I take the chance visiting them also with additional purpose to refreshing myself with visiting tourism objects on there. I had been in there for two weeks, start from 6th March till 21th March 2016. On that time the weather was rather cold with some rainy days. It was the change of season between Winter to Summer. As I lived in Indonesia so I was a litte not got usual with the condition at there.

I was visited Shi Fen Waterfall on the next day after I arrived there, due I have family on there, so I don’t have to worry how to reach there by common transportation, but it’s also kinda of pity I couldn’t experienced the feeling of taking their transportation such as rail way, MRT, Bus, and so on. But never mind, I hope someday I got the chance to visit and explore Taiwan again on my own.

Shi Fen Waterfall is located at Pingxi District, New Taipei City ( Or spell in Chinese Xin Bei ). The falls total height is 20 meters and 40 meters in width. It forma a horseshoe and has been nicknamed the little niagara even tough it’s much smaller J. I was heading from tao yuan where I lived to there, it’s take time approximately 1 hours. If you want to reach there by train as I do some research in google, you could take the train to ruifang from Taipei main station and then transfer to the pingxi line and get off at shifen. Once you arrive there you have to walk some times to reach Shi Fen waterfall, it’s take time about 30 minutes, depended on the speed you walked also.

The entrance fee to visit Shi Fen Waterfall is free with opening hours 09:00 AM – 16:30 PM, I think the best time to visit there is in the morning where the weather not too hot. But I don’t know weather in summer, spring and autumn how the condition of weather at there. The time when I visited there, it was a perfect time, not too cool or too hot. There’s another place at there you could visit is shi fen old street, which was about 20 minutes of walk from shi fen water fall area. Shifen old street is one of the most popular stop along the pingxi line train. The railway was originally built to transport coals but as the coal business dwindled over the years, this place has gradually evolved into a popular tourist spots – for one to discover the coal-mining history of Taiwan and to experience the lighting of sky lanterns.

At that time I only visited Shi Fen Waterfall it’s really pity due to I was went there with my uncle then they are exhausted of walking to there. So I don’t even take any photos at shi fen old street or buy lantern and make a wish on there. Shi Fen Old Street is the place where the Taiwan Lantern Festival held. Taiwan Lantern Festival is an annual event hosted by Tourism bureau of the Ministry of Transportation Communication in Taiwan to celebrate Lantern Festival. The festival held on fifteenth day of the first month in the lunar calendar and the end of the Chinese New Year. The purpose of the festival is to spread the traditional folklore. It is also known as Yuan Xiao Festival.

That’s all my documentation on my Taiwan trip in Shi Fen Waterfall with all I know about there. Here some photos of Shi Fen Waterfall Park.

What Is Happiness?

I often reminded myself that in order to be happy I need to be free from problem. But now I think I have misunderstand the real meaning of being happy. Everyone has their own view of happiness. For poor people that don’t have to worry what have to eat in the breakfast, lunch and dinner is a kinda of blessing. For a rich people to growing their investment on money is kinda of blessing. We never got the same definition of happiness. For me happiness is when you’re never wasting your day by complaining what you don’t have and you’re grateful with everything you got. Happiness is when you dare to make a change with things that actually is dislikes it a lot. Here I make some conclusion of what happiness is :

  • Happiness is when you surround yourself with people you love;
  • Happiness is when you will be able to let go the thing you can’t control;
  • Happiness is when you dare to speak out your agree and disagreement;
  • Happiness is when you stop pleasing people;
  • Happiness is when you start doingthing you love;
  • Happiness is when you’re grateful with what you have;
  • Happiness is when you’re able to accept flaws of the people who you love;
  • Happiness is when you’re practicing compassion;
  • Happiness is when you stop complaining;
  • Happiness is when you’re aware with everything around you;
  • Happiness is when you’re stop doing comparison to yourself;
  • Happiness is when you’re never stop learning new things;
  • Happiness is when you’re working with the right job that you love;
  • Happiness is when you’re pursue your dream;
  • Happiness is when you’re taking care your health, both your body and soul;
  • Happiness is when you’re keep trying even though you have failed a thousand times;
  • Happiness is when you’re playing like a kid without hesitate;
  • Happiness is when you’re doing things slowly enjoy every step of the process;
  • Happiness is when you’re doing what you love and loving what you do;
  • Happiness is when you’re stop lying to anyone including yourself;

Happiness is because you’re alive, you always have chance to start everything anew again.

That’s all, the moment that could make me feel happy. Happiness is endless and have no expired date as long is your true happiness. Happiness isn’t something ready made, it comes from within. Just like when I’m trying blogging and writing, I found I began happier than before. In my previous days, I’d love to wasting my time on the screen of phone to look how perfect are other people life was, because of that I have forgot my own life. Every time I look at other people life, I always think how others life can be so perfectly then I want become one of them. Then I Forgot that what I saw only the surface and also I forgot what’s suitable to others might not to me. The last but not the least is always be yourself. True to yourself then you will always have the life you want the most.
